Facts about our Room

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at McMaster Children’s Hospital is located at Red Level 3 behind the elevators and close to the pediatric wards.  The Family Room is open to families from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week.

Our Family Room has four semi private areas for families to relax, read, have a snack or just have the opportunity to take a break from the day to day grind of the ward and still be at the hospital. We have floor to ceiling windows which results in an abundance of natural light. 

Our Amenities

Ronald McDonald House Hamilton offers a "home away from home" for families of critically ill and injured children; however, many parents are often reluctant to leave their child alone at the hospital.  Parents can now enjoy the comforts of Ronald McDonald House at the Ronald McDonald Family Room, located on the third floor of McMaster Children's Hospital.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room offers parents and families of children admitted to the hospital a special place of respite, relaxation and privacy, while remaining within the same walls as their child.  The Family Room is a wonderful extension of the House, as it provides support not only to out-of-town families, but to local ones as well.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room is complete with a variety of amenities including a kitchenette, a computer, laundry facilities, shower supplies, including towels, soaps, etc.; and televisions and DVD player in a comfortable lounge area. 

Our kitchenette is stocked with hot and cold beverages and may from time to time have snacks available to families as well.

Our computer has full internet access for families to be able to keep their family members up to date.

To support our “home away from home” feeling we are also able to provide laundry facilities including detergent and powder bleach for use.

We are also able to offer support to families who may have had to leave home without packing an overnight bag and are missing even the most basic necessities, such as shower supplies and personal hygiene supplies.

We have 2 televisions and DVD players in the room for families to sit back and unwind.  We offer a wide variety of movies for various age groups.
